The Balm in Gilead is a wonderful place to grow in your faith and develop great relationship other believers.

Our Senior Pastor, Superintendent Hosea E. Irving is an outstanding teacher and preacher of the Word of God. Through his ministry lives have been changed, souls saved, healed, and delivered.

Working by his side is his loving wife, Dr. Darnice Milton Irving, a gifted motivator, teacher, and prayer warrior. She serves as coordinator of the monthly Women’s Day Program each 4th Sunday.

Together this dynamic leadership team is on a mission to spread Gods Word, bring hope to the hopeless and tell a dying world
about the love of God.

What We Believe: Our Affirmation of Faith

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.
  • We believe that there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and, God the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return.
  • We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
  • We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer.
  • We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.
  • We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in the present world.

Department of Women

  • Every 4th Sunday is Women’s Day
  • Training and Development Classes
  • Empowerment Classes
  • Agape Purse Project, where the women came together and filled pursed with personal products/snacks and distributed them to the homeless as a part of our Random Acts of Kindness Program.

Community Outreach Ministry

  • We offer prayer and counseling for those in need.
  • Annual Community Health Fair
  • We distribute toys, clothes, shoes, and other personal grooming supplies during the holiday to seniors and children in need.
  • Before school we distribute backpacks and school supplies to youth.
  • We contribute to scholarships for college students.
  • Arts & Crafts Classes
